Egyptian Sidekick Yellow Motto

Thank you for your interest in Egyptian Sidekick, a non-profit, fair-wage tourism network in-and-around Cairo, Alexandria, and Luxor, run by English-speaking Egyptian university students, local guides, and their international friends.

The Motto of our fair-tourism project is: Complete Supervision, Unlimited Travel, Unlimited Sightseeing, and 24-Hour Availability. These four points are understood literally, and are the terms of service with Egyptian Sidekick.

Egyptian Sidekick prides itself on rates which are fair both to foreign travelers and to those actually doing the hard work on the ground. No tips are ever expected or solicited since rates are meant to be fair at the outset. There is zero tolerance for the solicitation of tips.

Additionally, travelers do not wish to go shopping. Instead, most wish to utilize their time in the most meaningful of ways, this does not only include sightseeing, but also culinary and cultural experiences off of the beaten path, and away from points of mass-tourism.

Wondering what exactly is a Sidekick? A Sidekick is a chaperone who ensures complete supervision, unlimited travel, unlimited sightseeing, and the 24-hour availability of the Sidekick and driver. They are not licensed guides, and do not need any specialized knowledge of any of the sites.

Sidekicks are meant to be itinerary supervisors, communicators, and protectors of the travel group. It is the Sidekick’s responsibility to realize the given Full-Day or Half-Day itinerary, communicate on the traveler’s behalf, and do their absolute to protect them from touts and souvenir sellers.

Sidekicks are responsible for arranging transportation for the given party size. Sightseeing with Egyptian Sidekick comes with unlimited travel, meaning that the driver, Sidekick and the traveling party can utilize the transportation for the Full-Day, or until 7+ sites have been toured.

Travelers do not have to hold to a preset itinerary, and can modify it on the fly. On a Full-Day Tour, 7+ sites can be toured, while 4 sites can be visited on a Half-Day Tour. The order of sites visited is at the discretion of travelers, but Sidekick suggestions are welcome.

The Sidekick and driver are not hired solely for sightseeing, since travelers might also want to benefit from experiences in the evening hours. This requires the 24-Hour availability of the Sidekick and driver, should travelers still have the energy to explore souks and temples at night.
